WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Automation is very different from analytics. While the goal of analytics is to inform decision making, the goal of automation is to streamline processes and automate tasks (i.e. reduce the need for manual intervention).

It’s extremely important to look at opportunities to use data and ask yourself ‘is this an analytical problem, or an automation problem’ because they use different parts of the brain.

Analytical problems are about information gathering, and storytelling, while process automation projects are about understanding a steps in a process and streamlining them to find efficiency (and reduce or remove the need for manual intervention).
